About Historical Collections

Historical Collections is owned and operated by John and Shirley Herbert. Members of the Manuscript Society and Lifetime Registered Dealers of the UACC.

For fifteen years we have advertised ourselves as the "Friendly Dealers". During the same period, we trust we have earned a reputation for fairness and honesty. Our goal is to help our clients build collections of authentic material.

John was a Geophysicist, before taking early retirement from an oil company. He was already doing Autograph Shows as a hobby. Shirley was a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at a Private School. They decided to go into the autograph business full time, so Shirley retired from teaching, bought stock from another autograph dealer and they became dealers. Because they have so much interest in a lot of things they set up shop in Antiques at Rummel Creek and begin selling from there. "Our greatest joy is seeing how happy our clients are when we sell them something they have wanted for a long time, and couldn't locate it."

In addition to autographed related material, we also sell coins, currency, maps, early writings and printings, ancient artifacts, fine art, and geologic specimens. Our autograph stock includes everything from inexpensive signed cards, to signed movie star photos, to signed books, and signed presidential letters and documents.
